About Ama

Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to visit! I started the 3Rivers Learning Company to be a resource for families. I believe that parents are a child's first teacher, and they need information, resources, and support to help their children thrive. I have always had a passion for teaching and learning because I am amazed by how the mind works and how skills develop differently in each child. My experience has taught me how to work with the gifts that each student has and use them to turn trials into triumphs. I look forward to sharing my expertise with you. 

I have over 20 years of experience in education working in public, private, and charter school settings as an instructor and administrator designing, directing, and implementing special education and academic support programs. In my career, I have developed procedures and administered programs, assessments, and special education services. I have presented numerous professional development and conference workshops on reading, assessment, special education, and differentiated instruction. I also work privately in remediation, consulting, assessment, and diagnosis of learning challenges. 

I earned a Doctorate in Communication Disorders and a Masters in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University. I hold an Illinois Professional Educators License, and I am certified Orton Gillingham instructor. I am a qualified diagnostician with expert training and experience utilizing numerous assessment tools and instructional strategies.
