Educational therapy is one-on-one specialized instruction in academic skills and learning processes. Each lesson is customized to improve performance for students in grades K-12 with challenges that impact learning, including learning disabilities in reading, writing and math, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Diagnostic teaching that uses cycles of assessment and instruction identifies strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. This allows us to target skills and monitor growth. Sessions are tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning goals. A variety of resources and methods are employed to help students learn new skills and improve their performance including specialized remediation and multisensory instruction (Orton Gillingham methods). Communication with teachers and other specialists ensures a seamless delivery of services. By understanding each student's strengths and challenges we develop instructional pathways that lead to success.
Students who are struggling and those who want to maintain or improve their skills benefit from one-on-one academic tutoring. We offer academic tutoring in reading decoding, reading comprehension, writing, mathematics to students in grades K-12. Support for executive functioning and study skills is also available. Sessions are tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning goals to help them achieve at higher levels.
A variety of consulting options are available to assist families of students with learning disabilities who are seeking information and advice about IEP goals, 504 accommodations, and instructional strategies. We work with families and schools to advocate for students and whenever possible, coordinate school and private services. Professional training on topics related to intervention and specialized instruction is available for schools and organizations to improved service delivery and teacher knowledge. Training topics include special education procedures, reading development and remediation, and differentiated instruction.
At this time, due to Covid-19, tutoring and educational therapy sessions are being delivered online. Flexible scheduling is available to improve reading, writing, and math skills for students with and without learning disabilities. In-person services based in the Chicago North Shore area will resume based on conditions and local health guidelines and regulations.
